A Little Jewelry Bag
I taught a class called "Embellished Edgings" at Sewing at the Beach 2017 that covers four unusual edging stitches that aren't used much: Beaded Hedebo Edge, Antwerp Edging Stitch, Armenian Edging Stitch and the Scalloped Buttonholed Chain Stitch. All are great to use on a collar, maybe on a tuck, around the edge of a needle book. They're very versatile and innovative. So I got thinking about a small jewelry bag and designed one. It's pretty. It's beaded. It has tassels and cord made from floss. And it is perfect for the Beaded Hedebo Stitch!
The Beaded Hedebo Stitch starts out as a base of alternating long and short cross stitches (in this case measured with some "Tiger Tape" for ease of placement). This photo shows the first part of the cross stitch on the edge of the bag.
Here is the row of completed short and long cross stitches.
Next is the Hedebo stitch is done over the long cross stitches (not into the fabric) in two steps.
A bead is sewn over the short cross stitch. This didn't take too long to do and I think it adds the perfect touch to this project.....I think this could become a new class! What do you think?
